Research Grant

The Pain Relief Foundation is pleased to announce grants to fund research on the mechanisms and/or relief of human chronic pain:

Small Grants

Pain Relief Foundation is pleased to announce small grants which may be in respect of projects and salaries, but will exclude equipment etc. Grants previously awarded have varied ranging up to £30,000 each.

Applications will be particularly welcomed from people in the early stages of their research careers.  The grants may be held in the Pain Relief Foundation’s Pain Research Institute in Liverpool, or at other approved centres.

PhD Grants

Pain Relief Foundation is pleased to announce a  Prize PhD Studentship, to enable a young graduate to embark on a research career in human chronic pain.  Applications are invited from Universities, Academic Institutes and other potential Project Supervisors
for this prestigious Studentship for human chronic pain research.

The grant award will be tenable for three years and will carry a tax-free stipend and tuition fees totalling £16,250 in the first year, with increases in years two and three.  In addition, there will be a small budget available to cover consumables, which must be fully detailed, costed and approved before commencing.

Applications should include the Supervisor’s C.V. and complete details of the proposed project.  The application should name two academic referees who will be prepared to support the project and the application.  These reference will be taken up in the first instance.

ALL GRANTS

The closing date for receipt of applications is 24th February 2012

We shall require the names and addresses of two academic referees, who will be prepared to support the project and the application.

These references will be taken up in the first instance and the applications then submitted for peer review.

When this process is complete, the applications will be placed before the Foundation's Scientific Sub-Committee for consideration after which, their recommendations will be submitted to the Foundation's Trustees.

It is expected that the final decision will be announced in May 2012.
